How do our Franciscan Brothers respond to Christ’s command to be sent into the world?
October 21 – World Mission Sunday, is a day set aside for Catholics worldwide to recommit to the Church’s missionary activity through prayer and giving. As described by Saint John Paul II, it is “an important day in the life of the Church because it teaches how to give: as an offering made to God, in the Eucharistic celebration, for all the missions of the world.”
Our Franciscan Brothers proclaim God’s love through these missions: the Russian Foundation, Holy Land Mission, and Bellas Artes. Recently, Fr. Tommy King, OFM came to the parish to share about Casa Franciscana, a unique international ministry which brings together friars and lay people of both Mexico and the United States. For more than 40 years, Casa Franciscana has provided a broad range of critical assistance to the people of the struggling port city of Guaymas, Mexico.
