SUMMARY:Holy Week 2026
DESCRIPTION:In the Spirit of St. Francis\, and as Catholics in a community of many cultures\, we live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Strengthened by Word and Sacrament\, we welcome all into God’s inclusive love.\nThe liturgical season of Lent ends quietly on the afternoon of Holy Thursday as the Paschal Triduum begins.  The word “triduum” means “three days” in Latin.  These are the three most sacred days in our Church\, from Thursday evening to Sunday evening\, the paschal mystery of Jesus’ passion\, death\, and resurrection unfolds.   These three days do not stand alone – they are celebrated as one liturgy\, because the death of Jesus is intricately linked with his resurrection three days later. \nThe Sacred Paschal Triduum\nOur liturgies take place at two locations: the Parish Church at 4070 Mission Avenue\, Oceanside\, CA 92057\, and the Old Mission Church next door at 4050 Mission Avenue\, Oceanside\, CA 92057. \nHoly Thursday\, April 2\, 2026  – Intercultural Mass of the Lord’s Supper7:00 p.m. in the Parish Church (live-streamed for our homebound) \nHoly Thursday is known as the Mass of the Lord’s Supper primarily because of the institution of the Eucharist and the rituals of foot washing and the reception of the Holy Oils\, presented to the community for the good of the people\, in welcoming new Christians and healing the sick.   We gather together in a spirit of humility and love\, following the example of Jesus who washed the feet of his disciples. \nPlease join us after Mass in walking with the Lord in Adoration to the Chapel of Repose in the Mission Church\, where the Holy Eucharist will be adored. \nNote: There are no daily masses today.—————— \nGood Friday\, April 3\, 2026  – Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion with Holy Communion \n3:00 p.m. in the Parish Church – English – (live-streamed for our homebound) \n5:30 p.m. in the Parish Church – Bilingual(Please note\, the passion will be acted out during the 5:30 p.m.   Content may be graphic for younger audiences.  Please use your discretion.) \nOn Good Friday\, we journey with the Lord\, the innocent servant of God\, who has taken our sins upon himself as he walks the path to Calvary.   Through this liturgy\, we share in Jesus’ faith and love and participate in his self-opening to the Father’s love. \nNote: There are no daily masses today. \n—————— \nHoly Saturday\, April 4\, 2026  – Glorious Easter Vigil \n8:00 p.m. Bilingual Mass in the Parish Church  (live-streamed for our homebound) \nOn Holy Saturday\, the darkness is shattered by the light of the great paschal candle and the Easter fire.   Today\, we celebrate the gift of life\, the gift of the world\, and all that fills it.  We witness the Baptism and bestowal of God’s Spirit as new Catholics join our community.   We celebrate — Jesus is risen from the dead! \nNote: There are no daily masses today and no Sacrament of Reconciliation. \n—————— \nEaster Sunday\, April 5\, 2026   \n6:00 a.m. – Mission Church – English \n9:00 a.m. -Mission Church – Spanish \n10:00 a.m. – Parish Church – English –  (live-streamed for our homebound) \n12:00 p.m. – Parish Church – Spanish – (live-streamed for our homebound) \nEaster Sunday crowns our Triduum celebration and begins a new period within the liturgical year.  Easter offers a time of reflection on how the followers of Jesus came to receive and understand his resurrection from the dead. \nNote: There are no 5 pm or 7 pm Masses today.   The Parish Offices will be closed on Good Friday and Holy Saturday\, the 3rd and 4th of April.

SUMMARY:Intercultural Stations of the Cross
DESCRIPTION:In the Spirit of St. Francis\, and as Catholics in a community of many cultures\, we live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Strengthened by Word and Sacrament\, we welcome all into God’s inclusive love.\nLong ago\, Christians wanted to walk in the footsteps of Jesus – from the Praetorium where he was judged by Pilate and unjustly condemned by the angry crowd\, to Calvary where he was crucified. Since the early years of Christianity\, many of the Faithful went on pilgrimages to the faraway Holy Land to walk the Way of the Cross. Eventually\, the desire to participate in this devotion was transformed into the more accessible ‘Stations of the Cross’ at our own local parish churches. Praying the ‘Stations of the Cross’ has been a practice highly encouraged by Franciscans for centuries. To prayerfully walk the Way of the Cross and to contemplate Christ’s passion\, especially as a community\, is to open our hearts to be transformed by the experience. \nAs we experience the Stations of the Cross this Lent\, especially in a year when so many have felt so much suffering and grief\, let us open our hearts to conversion. Let us ask God to forgive our sins as we forgive the sins of others. Through our contemplation of the passion of Christ through the Stations\, let us also hunger to experience the immeasurable love of Christ for us through the Sacraments\, especially in the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. SUMMARY:St. Joseph's Table Bake Sale
DESCRIPTION:What is the St. Joseph’s Table?\nWhen a terrible drought struck Sicily in the Middle Ages\, the starving people begged St. Joseph to intercede for them\, and\, sure enough\, rain fell. In thanksgiving\, the people filled a table with baked goods and shared them with the poor. \nFollowing this tradition\, our parishioners create their own St. Joseph’s Table with an icon of the saint whose feast day is March 19th.   And for all our Irish parishioners\, enjoy the icon of St. Patrick (Feastday: March 17th)  sharing the spotlight on our St. Joseph’s table. \nParishioners will make or purchase delicious baked goods\, which will be offered for sale after all Masses.  Proceeds are given to the poor.  This year\, St. Joseph’s table will benefit “Hogar del Niño: María Auxiliadora\,” an orphanage in Mexico. \nLook for the bake sale in the Serra Gardens after all Masses on Sunday\, March 22.
