Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.

October 28 – Priesthood Sunday is a special day set aside to reflect upon
and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives sight to a man named Bartimaeus, who then follows Jesus “on the way” of discipleship. God, through baptism, has given us the gift of his Spirit to be faithful and loving disciples. On this “Priesthood Sunday,” we reflect on God’s blessing of our parish, and the entire universal Church, with many priests who give of themselves for Christ’s people. Their preaching, teaching, and witness call us to be as Christ is: loving, just and compassionate.

Today, let us pray together for the priests and brothers who serve us at Mission San Luis Rey Parish.     Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments. Help Fr. Vince, Fr.Oscar and Fr. Francisco and Fr. Anthony,  and all priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen.
