The Las Madrinas Altar Society is comprised of Women of Faith - building a Eucharistic table through service. Las Madrinas originated in 1950, by a group of Mission San Luis Rey Parish women who first and foremost dedicated their time to serving the needs of the Parish. To this day, the Society continues to devote much of its time to serve and support the Parish community. Las Madrinas members are responsible for the care and maintenance of the altar linens and purificators. We maintain collections for the Mission San Luis Rey Parish Memorial Fund and sponsor a Pre-Lenten retreat for the women of North County Parishes. We are committed to supporting Brother Benno's Foundation and Mission San Luis Rey Social Concerns; sponsor a seminarian at the Franciscan School of Theology; participate and support St. Francis Day at Mission San Luis Rey. We host an annual luncheon for the priests and the parish staff, as well as coordinate and host an annual Christmas Party. Las Madrinas Altar Society belongs to the Deanery Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.
