The priests, staff, and parishioners of Mission San Luis Rey Parish would like to thank everyone who made our new altar platform possible. This addition, which was designed by Ralph Brienza, has enriched our place of worship with a more permanent place for the altar. The beautiful tile platform and new altar backdrop offer a welcoming place to gather to hear God’s word, offer prayers and praise, and above all, celebrate Eucharist.

From earliest times, the altar has been the center of the church and the focus for our liturgies. The stone tiles recall that Jesus is the “stone that the builders rejected that has become the cornerstone” (Psalm 118:22) of our faith.

The new altar platform will aid our participation at mass by enabling everyone to draw together and clearly see the sacrifice of the Mass.
