Come, Holy Spirit! Celebrate the Birthday of the Church
Join us for the joyful celebration of Pentecost Sunday, the day the Church was born through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Fifty days after Easter, we gather to remember how the Spirit descended upon the apostles, filling them with courage, fire, and the power to proclaim the Gospel to all nations.
At Mission San Luis Rey Parish, this feast is more than a memory—it is a living invitation to renew faith, unite in love, and send forth as witnesses of Christ. The symbols of wind, fire, and dove remind us of the Spirit’s power to transform fear into mission, silence into proclamation, and isolation into communion.
The 10 a.m .and 12 noon masses will be combined to celebrate one Intercultural mass at 11:00 a.m. inside the Parish Church. Please note, this mass will NOT be outdoors. Come dressed in red, the color of Pentecost, and join us in celebrating with prayer, song, and community. Families, children, and youth are especially welcome—there will be special ways to engage all ages as we rejoice in the Spirit who breathes life into the Church.
Let us celebrate this divine birthday with joy, unity, and a renewed sense of purpose! After mass, the Cultural Diversity Ministry invites you to share the tastes, sights and sounds of the many cultures that make up Mission San Luis Rey Parish in the Serra Gardens.
