Safe Environment

Protecting Our Children

Preventing – Responding – Reporting

At Mission San Luis Rey Parish, we are deeply committed to creating and maintaining a safe, respectful, and faith-filled environment for all, especially our children and youth. In collaboration with the Diocese of San Diego, we follow clear and transparent policies to prevent abuse, respond to concerns, and report misconduct.

Our Commitment

All parish ministers, clergy, volunteers, and catechetical staff are:

  • Screened and background-checked

  • Trained in professional conduct and boundaries

  • Educated on how to recognize and respond to signs of abuse

We follow the Safe Environment Program of the Diocese of San Diego, ensuring that all who work with minors are equipped to foster a culture of safety and accountability.

Mandatory Volunteer Clearance

Anyone volunteering in our:

  • Catholic Schools

  • Religious Education Programs

  • Youth Ministries
must first complete the Safe Environment Clearance, including online training through the CMG Connect Program (Catholic Mutual Group).

No volunteer role involving children may begin until this clearance is completed.
