OCIA for Children
“Come and see.” – John 1:39
OCIA Adapted for Children is the Catholic Church’s process for preparing children and youth who have reached catechetical age (generally age 7) to receive the Sacraments of Initiation — Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist — at the Easter Vigil.
Who is OCIA for Children for?
- Unbaptized children over the age of reason (7+) or teens who have not been catechized.
- Baptized but uncatechized children/youth with little understanding of God or the Church.
- Children baptized in another Christian faith who wish to become Catholic
- Parents are encouraged to be actively engaged in the process.
