OCIA

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process through which adults are welcomed into full communion with the Catholic Church.

OCIA

Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) Inquiry:

The OCIA inquiry is the first open-door stage of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), where individuals first explore the Catholic Church.

What Happens During the Inquiry Stage:

  • Asking Questions: Participants ask open questions about Jesus, scripture, and basic Catholic beliefs and practices.
  •
  • No Obligation: There is no commitment, pressure, or formal rite of entry required to start attending these initial informal conversations.
  •
  • Information Gathering: We collect basic background details—such as previous religious history, marital status, or prior baptismal records—to understand how to guide the individual(s).
  •
  • Discernment: Participants decide whether they want to move forward into the formal OCIA program or take more time.

If you are considering this path, please attend our ongoing sessions on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Dining Room.
