Friar Adolfo arrives after spending a year in San Antonio, Texas, living at the San José and San Miguel de Aguayo Missions. During that time, he focused on completing his final studies so he could apply for Holy Orders at the Oblate School of Theology.
Friar Adolfo was born in Sacramento, California, into an extended family of Mexican immigrants and Californians—along with other cultural influences—which allowed him to grow up in a diverse household. In addition to his family, he is grateful to the Sisters of Mercy and the Lasallian Brothers for the Christian foundation he received.
Many of you may remember him from the times he happily attended Mass in our community while living in San Diego. He gave talks at the parish and led retreats at our Mission’s retreat center, and he lived with the friars at Mission San Luis Rey for three summers.
Friar Adolfo has been assigned to serve at our parish to continue his pastoral formation before receiving the transitional diaconate. God willing, he will also exercise his diaconate ministry here before being ordained a priest. Friar Adolfo will assist in the Religious Education department and volunteer at Casa Loretto, in addition to serving in other ministries Fr. Lalo assigns during his time with us.
