Serra Center Audio Visual Update

Join us in Serra Center
Christ, Be Our Light

Good news! The digital audio and video update of our Serra Worship Center is complete. You may have noticed the improved sound, with our Martin Torus curved speakers flying overhead above the altar, new digital display screens in the front and back of the church, new wireless microphones, and assistive listening devices.

Thanks to our hardworking parish volunteers, our ministries raised $222,096.96 of our $225,284.01 budget to complete this project. So, what did your hard work and donations buy?

Please take a peek in the AV control booth, where you’ll see a camera control console for our four new HD cameras and an impressive digital distribution unit. For the techies in our parish family, we’re using an ATEM Mini-extreme switcher, and our live streams are broadcasting at 1080p on YouTube. Our QSC-Audio Core controls 24 audio and video channels, improving the sound of our choirs and instrumentalists.

State-of-the-art touch-screen controls turn the system on and off, managing a wall of amplifiers and a Dante System (Digital Audio Network through Ethernet). In a nutshell, that’s what it’s all about. Instead of a bulky snake of cables running everywhere through the church, a Dante network moves digital audio seamlessly over hundreds of feet (and more) using Cat 6 or fiber-optic cables running overhead and hidden away.

Our Audio Visual designers/installers were the good folks from Sound Image, a Clair Global subsidy.  Scott Coyle, Kelly Barger, and David Paviol’s commitment to exceptional customer support and service ensured our system was ready for Holy Week and Easter 2024.

On the parish side, our Music Ministers, Kerey Quaid, Francisco Osio, and Jorge Soto; the Facilities Manager, Giovanni Dominguez; our liturgical team, Fr. Oscar and Fr. Alberto, and Parish Administrator Gwyn Grimes, did a great deal of behind-the-scenes planning and work. Many thanks to all for their dedication to completing this two-year project.
