En este Tercer Domingo de Adviento, la liturgia nos invita al GOZO. En la primera parte del Evangelio de hoy se presentan tres grupos de personas que acuden a Juan el Bautista para tener orientaciones concretas para su vida: la gente común, los recaudadores de impuestos, y los soldados. Todos tienen una pregunta que se repite: “¿Qué debemos hacer?”, lo que indica su total disposición a aceptar la voluntad de Dios. Se han dado cuenta de que se salieron del camino, y ahora están decididos a cambiar su vida y, por lo tanto, buscan la dirección del profeta.
Imaginemos que uno de nosotros, deseoso de prepararse bien para la Navidad, hace esta misma pregunta a los que consideramos “expertos” en el campo de la religión, tal vez catequistas o un religioso o a uno de los sacerdotes. ¿Qué nos dirían?
Los consejos comunes son: ayudar a un hermano que está en dificultad o visitar a una persona enferma o rezar el rosario todos los días; o hacer algunas oraciones o ir a confesarse. Por supuesto, estos son buenos consejos. Pero Juan el Bautista no eligió este camino. Quizás porque la comunidad judía ya las estaba haciendo tan escrupulosamente. Por lo tanto, exige algo muy concreto en el modo de amar a un hermano o a una hermana.
A la gente común le dice: “Si tienes dos abrigos, dale uno a la persona que no tenga ninguno; y si tiene algo para comer, haz lo mismo”. Las oraciones y las devociones son importantes siempre que no se utilicen como dispositivos para escapar de la demanda de compartir bienes con los necesitados.
Nos reunimos con gusto para orar, para cantar, pero cuando se nos pide que nos pongamos a disposición de los hermanos y hermanas y compartamos con ellos los bienes que poseemos, nuestro entusiasmo religioso se desvanece de repente. Juan el Bautista no es tan estricto cuando dice: “Si tienes dos túnicas, dale una a la que no tenga ninguna”, pero Jesús exigirá aún más a sus discípulos: “Cuando alguien te quite la túnica, dale también tu camisa”.
Ante la pregunta: “¿Qué debemos hacer?” ¿Cómo me estoy preparando para la Navidad, para que el Niño Dios nazca en mi corazón? ¿En mi preparación para la Navidad, donde celebramos y meditamos el misterio de la Encarnación, es suficiente recitar algunas oraciones o podría dar un paso más allá e involucrar a otros especialmente aquellos que son excluidos, marginados, o menospreciados?
