What is a catechist? A catechist is a person of faith who leads others in understanding the faith teachings according to those official teachings.
The role of the catechist is a vital ministry to the Church and a gift that has tremendous value to the world community. Through the catechist’s word and action, which supports parents in their home ministry, the message and love of Christ are shared with the world through our young people.
Will I receive training and support? Yes! You will receive training when the next opportunity arises, as well as materials and support.
If you want to share your faith, please consider being a catechist. Volunteers for all grade levels are currently needed. Please get in touch with Deacon Lyle at deaconlyle@sanluisreyparish.org or 760-547-0715.
Background checks and safe environment training are required of all catechists.
