God’s love is so great, that he wants us all to be saved by his Son, and his Son did not come to condemn us, but to save us and take us with him so that where he is, we are also all with God for all eternity.
Fr. Alberto Villafan, OFM
This Sunday, May 30, we are celebrating the SOLEMNITY OF THE HOLY TRINITY. We are celebrating the perfect love, communion, and union between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. If we are sons and daughters of God, we have to make the effort to always live imitating the Holy Trinity, in love, communion, and union with one another; accepting and respecting each other as God has created us. How wonderful and perfect is the plan of God who has shown us that we are never alone and never will be, no matter what happens. His love has been so perfect and unconditional that the proof of it has given us the most sacred thing he has, his own Son. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God” (John 3: 16-18). God’s love is so great, that he wants us all to be saved by his Son, and his Son did not come to condemn us, but to save us and take us with him so that where he is, we are also all with God for all eternity. The question is, do we accept God’s invitation or do we reject it? Unfortunately, when we make wrong decisions, we blame God, as if God were to blame for letting ourselves be carried away by the human and carnal spirit, instead of letting ourselves be enticed by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
God the Father sent us his beloved Son so that we would always and at all times listen to him. Do we listen to him and follow his commands all the time, or only when it suits us? “Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them; then from the cloud came a voice, ‘This is my beloved Son. Listen to him’” (Mark 9: 7-8). This voice and the message of God the Father is a mandate for all of us who consider ourselves Catholic; that we only have to listen to Jesus, and not to so many swindlers and antichrists. Unfortunately, when things go wrong in our lives, we seek help and advice from other people who do not work for God but work for someone else. There are Catholics who have false and sinful idols, which only lead them to ruin and perdition; psychics, card reading, tarot, zodiac signs, “healers”, medicine men & women, etc. The day these Catholics stop visiting and putting their faith in those false and sinful idols, their lives will be fuller, happier, more peaceful; trusting, and always putting your faith in Jesus, whatever happens. Brothers and sisters, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, no one goes to the Father except through him (Saint John 14, 7). Let’s take the test and we will see how beautiful, wonderful, and loving our Lord Jesus Christ is. Only he has the words of Eternal Life. Only he offers us what no one can offer us. THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
At the same time, there are many Catholics who live with fear, doubts, anguish, and depression, especially when our Holy Church goes through dark moments, walking the desert of confusion, due to various mistakes that have been made. They think and believe that what Jesus instituted and confirmed is coming to an end. Those are just assumptions and rash conclusions, based on human calculations. Remember that moments of crisis and isolation in the desert are also moments of purification and sanctification. The one who has guided and will continue to guide our Catholic Church, is the third person of the HOLY TRINITY, THE HOLY SPIRIT. “I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound In heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16: 18-19). If Jesus has told us that he will be with us until the end of time and that there will be no human power that can destroy what he has built and confirmed in Saint Peter, then why so many doubts, worries, anguishes, and fears? “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” (Matthew 28, 18-20). Once again, Jesus confirms to us that his faithfulness and his promises are perfect. Who can separate us from the love, faithfulness, and promises of Jesus? Nobody, absolutely, nobody. Amen.
With love and respect, Fr. Alberto Villafan, OFM
